Barwick Boitano - Newsletter Welcome to the Spring Edition Barwick Boitano Newsletter. Welcome to the Christmas Edition Barwick Boitano Newsletter At Barwick Boitano we care about our clients, so we hope you may find these tips useful over the coming holiday season! Unfortunately, the Christmas season can bring sadness and unhappiness as well as joy and celebration. Christmas can be a season of good cheer, and sometimes a bit too much good cheer! Police activities with RBT are at a year long high and just think what life without a license would be like? Driving after a few drinks is not just about the Police. If you are at fault in an accident with too much alcohol in your system, you are not covered by your insurance, and of course that says Murphy is, when you hit a Rolls Royce! Many of us have driven after a few drinks and feel quite capable of doing so. Beware! There is a ton of evidence that shows even at low blood-alcohol levels, you may feel alright to drive and can do so, until the emergency or the unexpected arises. Your reflexes will have slowed, and the situation you could cope with when stone cold sober becomes a legal headache! Remember, the holiday period is full of double demerit periods, speed cameras that you don’t realize were there, have now got you on a “happy snap”, or a couple of unrestrained kids in the back, even a 100% clean license can go in one hit!! The holidays are a time when Australians tend to drive, for a family get-together, or perhaps an interstate holiday. Make sure your car is up to it. Two things we often do not notice are worn wiper blades and worn shock absorbers. With both, replacing worn ones can make driving both safer and more pleasant. The final piece of advice - Speeeeeeeeeeed. Despite what the ads say, it is not speed that kills, but inappropriate speed, so don’t just drive at the posted limit, it might be too fast in some conditions! One of the biggest traps is that we are often out of touch with driving at freeway speeds so get used to it again. Closing distances can be deceptive, and the now common convex side mirrors distort distances. Keep out of the fast lane unless you are actually overtaking - apart from being the law, it is much safer! Above all, concentrate. Concentration is one of the major attributes that distinguish the race driver from the every-day driver.
